South African Aids Policy: It's Never Too Late To Be Ambitious

The South African government is showing ambition in its 2006 National Strategic Plan on HIV/Aids. The Plan, issued by the South African National Aids Council (SANAC), aims to reduce the rate of new HIV infections by 50% and to expand access to treatment, care and support to 80% of all HIV-positive people by 2011. For a five-year period, CHF 6.5 to 7.3 billion are to be allocated for prevention and treatment of HIV/Aids. read more …
